Director of AI

As Director of AI at US AI, Joseph Raetano leads the company’s artificial intelligence strategy and execution, delivering secure, scalable, and ethical AI solutions. He oversees the build-out of a next-generation MLOps control plane that accelerates the deployment of AI models and agents, enabling rapid innovation while ensuring governance and compliance. Joseph drives the integration of these capabilities into federal agencies and enterprise operations, embedding AI into mission-critical workflows to enhance efficiency, resilience, and impact.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Joseph transitioned from a career as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician and Cryptologic Information Warfare Officer to become a leader in operationalizing AI at scale. As AI Lead at the Department of Veterans Affairs, he launched the VA’s first Generative AI pipeline, processing over 1.5 million clinical notes daily, and built the Summit Data Platform to scale AI-enabled capabilities across the enterprise.

He holds a Master’s in Computer Science and is completing a PhD focused on integrating psychological personality models into large language models, bridging human behavior and machine intelligence.
